Dr. John Tanner, DO is an addiction medicine specialist in Jacksonville Beach, FL and has been practicing for 35 years. He graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1983 and specializes in addiction medicine, addiction psychiatry, and more. Dr. Tanner believes in a holistic approach that includes a healthy lifestyle, even though his focus and practice is on addictive and behavioral health care. He believes that he must listen to his patient and understand what they want that he has to offer. As an educator of physicians, Dr. Tanner believes that patients will benefit from being educated about the brain disorder that afflicts them so that they are better motivated to achieve their true goals in life. One of Dr. Tanner’s passions is training and educating physicians on the topics related to addictions and behavioral health. Andrea M. Trescot, MD, DABIPP, FIPP, CIPS

Andrea Trescot, MD is the past president of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), past pain fellowship director at the University of Florida and the University of Washington, the current Chief Medical Officer of Curonix (a wireless spinal cord and peripheral stimulation company), the current Chief Medical Officer of a 40-practice pain group (Physician Partners of America), and the current Chief Medical Officer of Beaches Recovery. Dr. Trescot has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters, and she is the editor and senior author of a 900-page pain textbook (Peripheral Nerve Entrapments – Clinical Diagnosis and Management) as well as Peripheral Nerve Stimulation.
She is also co-author of PainWise – A Patient’s Guide to Pain Management, as well as co-editor of the three-volume pain review textbook Pain Medicine & Interventional Pain Management – A Comprehensive Review and the recent Interventional Pain – A Step-by-Step Guide for the FIPP Exam. She is board-certified in anesthesiology, critical care, pain management, interventional pain management, and addictionology. She speaks nationally and internationally on multiple topics of pain medicine, interventional pain management, and addiction.
James W. Griffis

James W. Griffis is a Healthcare Executive with over 40 years of experience in the field of addiction and mental health. Jim began his career in the Navy, serving honorably for 22 years. During his career he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Behavioral Science, with a minor in Chemical Dependency, as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Behavioral Health Psychology.
His last 5 years of Naval service was spent as a Certified Alcohol Treatment Specialist. Following Navy retirement, he has served in various executive positions, including a number of CEO positions of multiple national treatment organizations. From 2004 through 2015 he worked as a consultant to many treatment organizations around the country, as well as in Belize and Mexico.
Jim was instrumental in the development of The Refuge Treatment Center in Central Florida, and was consulting there from 2005 to 2008 as their Operations Director. He consulted with Wekiva Springs Hospital and Tenbroeck Ocala Hospital, serving as CEO of both facilities in 2004. The treatment centers opened with immediate success. From 2014 to present he has been with Beaches Recovery Services, ensuring efficacy, and serving as Chief Executive Officer.
Michael Connolly, LMHC, CS

Michael Connolly, LMHC, CS is the clinical director of both Beaches Recovery and Tides Edge Recovery Services. He graduated from both Jacksonville University and the University of North Florida, earning his Master of Education Mental Health Counseling.
Michael has been licensed since 1998 and has more than 35 years of practicing and supervising experience in both chemical dependency and mental health. His expertise ranges from adolescent to adult counseling. Michael specializes in couples and family systems therapy and has experience working with addiction, employee assistance programs and account management. During his career, Michael has been director of inpatient and outpatient services and was instrumental in reorganizing multiple clinical programs, organizing policies, and providing consultation to agencies for Joint Commission accreditation.

In Michael’s spare time, he tries to stay busy enjoying many activities. He has been active in rugby with Jacksonville’s Men’s team since 1987 as a player, coach, and mentor.
Danielle Hardwick

Danielle Hardwick is the Director of Nursing for Tides Edge Detox and Beaches Recovery. She has been with Tides Edge since 2018 and previously served as a staff nurse and Lead nurse within the organization.
She began her nursing career as an LPN over 11 years ago and has been in the field of substance abuse treatment from the beginning. As a recent graduate of Jersey College, she accomplished her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. Prior to joining Tides Edge, Danielle has worked in a variety of roles within the mental health/substance abuse community. She now manages a team of amazing nurses and medical staff who provide extraordinary care to our clients in need.
Danielle has focused on Mental Health and Addiction in her career and considers it her calling. She brings loyalty, reliability, passion, dedication, and honesty, all vital in a person with her responsibilities. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three boys. Her favorite quote by Maya Angelou- “As a nurse we have the opportunity to heal the mind, soul, heart, and body of our patients. They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”
Jason Bowen

Jason has worked for Beaches Recovery for 7 years. He has served multiple roles in our organization including Lead Behavioral Technician, Facilities Maintenance Technician, and Facilities Manager. Jason is currently our Director of Operations.
Jason is a Jacksonville native. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, recovery, and spending time with his family. His favorite part about working for Beaches Recovery is the constant contact with newcomers and seeing people recover.
Tracey Fisher

Tracey has worked at Beaches Recovery since 2017. While she now serves as Director of Operations at Tides Edge Detox, she has served in a variety of roles, including administrative assistant and Assistant Director of Operations at Beaches Recovery.
Tracey understands how important it is for individuals in early recovery to build a strong foundation in turn focusing on ensuring effective support for the facility’s mission. She is committed and energized about making a difference in the lives of the people that come to treatment.
Tracey also enjoys working in the community as it allows her the opportunity to serve the community by giving, empowering, and helping those who cannot help themselves. In addition to working in operations, Tracey also has a strong connection to the recovery community here in Jacksonville.
Monique Acevedo

Monique is the Assistant Director of Operations for Beaches Recovery Services. Previously she has worked in support roles that included receptionist, driver, tech, and alumni support. Her role at Beaches places her in the day-to-day activities of directing resources to patients’ needs. She comes to her position after firsthand experience in her own life with drug and alcohol addiction and freely shares with the clients her own pitfalls and successes on the road to recovery. She knows that recovery is a daily journey that requires the support of other people and reliance on a Higher Power. She is one of the first people that new clients meet at Beaches and provides for a friendly segue into treatment programs. Clients know that she will always support them in their journey to recovery.
Monique has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Theology. Her work in theology helped her build a world view that understands brokenness as part of the human condition and often manifests itself in drug and alcohol addiction. In addition, Monique is a Smart Recovery Facilitator and a certified Life Coach.
Monique enjoys time with her Pug, Linus, walks on the beach, reading in multiple disciplines, and spending time with her family, both in Florida and North Carolina.
Christopher Colcord

Christopher has worked for Beaches Recovery for over four years. He currently serves as the Director of Outreach Services. His previous experience includes Lead Behavioral Technician, House Manager, Facilities Manager, and Assistant Director of the Adventure Program. He enjoys working in community outreach because it allows him to connect with a variety of people that need help and gets to assist each individual patient in finding their unique fit for a successful recovery journey. “We are all different. Therefore, our solutions look different.”
He has strong relationships throughout the recovery community and is an active member of many of the local recovery-based fellowships. His own life experiences allow him an uncanny ability to connect with clients and their families and serves as his passion in helping others recover from mental health and addiction. “My goal is to set people up for success in taking back their life and finding freedom in living sober.”
Christopher is also a certified event interventionist. He helps addicts and their families with the vital, sometimes difficult decision to enter treatment. “I personally know how hard it can be to adjust from only knowing a life of substance abuse to learning how to be of sober mind.” His goal is to make this transition as easy as possible for the client, their families, and friends.
Tamera Colcord

Jacksonville native Tamera Colcord joined the Beaches Recovery team as Admissions Coordinator in September 2022. Her heart for people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction comes from her own journey of recovery. Tamera is passionate about helping ensure everyone has access to treatment and services. She celebrates every admission, knowing that the work she does today allows people the opportunity to have a life free from the bondage of addiction.
Tamera’s work does not end when she clocks out for the day. She is an advocate in her community for women recovering from addiction as a mentor and provider of peer support. Tamera also volunteers her time and resources to multiple organizations, supporting women coming out of human trafficking and women in need of safe housing.
Tamera is a mother and a wife. She enjoys playing softball with her recovery-based, adult softball league locally and traveling to tournaments throughout the country. You can find Tamera lying on the beach, soaking up the sunshine in the summer months. She is also a die-hard FSU fan, draping herself in garnet and gold during the football season.

Rex Mock is a Case Manager at Beaches Recovery Services. He has been in the field of addiction treatment for 30 + years. He has worked as a counselor, Director of Counseling, Director of Admissions and was on the board of the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association for several years.
As a Case Manager he is one of the first faces that a new client sees. He attempts to bring a sense of humor into recovery and believes in “Keeping it Simple.” Throughout their journey he attempts to connect them to the services in treatment and after they have discharged so that they can be successful on their road to recovery.
Being in recovery for over 40 years, he enjoys collaborating with people who are trying to pull their lives together. It is never boring and often extremely rewarding.
Nancy Jackson, B.S
Case Manager

Nancy Jackson is a case manager at Beaches Recovery Services. Nancy has a wide array of experience working in mental health and addictions, including domestic violence counseling, working with at-risk youth and families, and dual-diagnosis adults at-risk of homelessness. Nancy is passionate about helping others, willing to ask the tough questions, willing to go the extra mile and place herself at the center of confusion to support those impacted by the pain and chaos of addiction.
Nancy’s role as a case manager is to conduct case management intakes upon each client’s admission. The intake consists of ensuring the client is fully knowledgeable of the services that Beaches Recovery Services has to offer, assessing the client’s needs while in treatment, providing linkages and referrals for accessing necessary resources, assisting clients with determining objectives to improve likelihood of success post discharge.
Nancy was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and is a recent transplant to Jacksonville, FL by way of San Diego, CA. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree at Springfield College School of Human Services, Wilmington DE campus.
Zach Campbell, B.S.

Zach Campbell is a case manager for Tides Edge Recovery. Zach understands firsthand how addiction can turn a person’s life upside down, and how difficult it can be to get connected to the right resources. As a case manager, Zach connects each client with these resources so they can be successful after treatment. “I know how hard it is to start over while getting sober and how important it is to know someone has your back when you’re not at 100% yet.”
Zach is an active member in the local recovery community and his experience with helping those trying to get sober is what motivated him to work in treatment. Zach understands how crucial it is to provide a positive experience for the newcomer so they can see that a life in recovery is far more rewarding than one in active addiction.
Zach graduated from Flagler College with his Bachelors in Psychology. A Florida native, Zach grew up in the Orlando area, moved to St. Augustine for school, and has lived in Jacksonville since 2017. When not working, Zach enjoys spending time with his family and friends, working with electronics, and going to the gym.
